Database

Database is the Cloud feature for storing and reading application data used by your project.

When you need a database

A static landing page may not need a database. You usually need one when the app includes:

  • signups or waitlists
  • user profiles
  • saved form submissions
  • dashboards
  • listings, orders, comments, or other records

If the page only displays fixed content, start without a database and add one later.

Initialize the database

Open Cloud, then Database. If the project does not have a database yet, use Initialize Database.

This asks the AI to prepare the database for the current project. Once it is enabled, the Database view can show tables and rows created by the app.

Ask for data features in chat

Describe the user action and the data that should be saved.

Good examples:

  • Save each contact form submission with name, email, and message.
  • Add a table for customer feedback and show the latest 10 entries.
  • Store waitlist signups and prevent duplicate emails.

Inspect before launch

Before sharing an app that saves data, open Database and confirm the expected tables exist. Then test the app from the published URL and check whether new rows appear.
