Logs

Logs is the Cloud panel for checking build output, runtime activity, and error messages from your project.

When to use Logs

Open Logs when the app does not behave the way you expect and you need technical evidence instead of visual guessing.

Use it for problems such as:

  • a deploy or build that did not complete as expected
  • a page or feature that works in preview but fails at runtime
  • API, auth, or payment flows that return errors
  • debugging a live issue after the project is published

What you can do in Logs

In the Logs panel, you can:

  • switch between runtime logs and build logs
  • filter log lines with search
  • watch new runtime lines arrive live
  • turn auto-scroll on or off while reading
  • clear the current log view

This makes Logs the main place to inspect what the app is doing behind the UI.

Runtime vs build logs

Use the right log type for the problem:

  • Runtime logs help when the app is already running but something fails during actual use
  • Build logs help when code generation, deployment, or setup produced a broken result before the app could run normally

As a simple rule:

  • if the app loads but a feature breaks, check runtime logs first
  • if the app failed before becoming usable, check build logs first

How to read logs quickly

Do not start by reading every line.

Usually, the fastest approach is:

  1. Reproduce the problem once.
  2. Open Logs.
  3. Switch to the most relevant tab.
  4. Search for obvious keywords such as error, auth, payment, endpoint names, or timestamps.
  5. Look for the first line that explains the failure rather than the lines that only repeat it.

If runtime logs are updating too fast, turn off auto-scroll so you can inspect one part without the view jumping.

When Logs are more useful than Preview

Preview shows what the app looks like.

Logs show what the app is actually doing.

Use Logs when the issue is about:

  • failed requests
  • server-side or runtime errors
  • missing secrets
  • integration failures
  • build or deploy problems

Use Preview when the issue is mainly visual or layout-related.
